    Our Process

We have learned two important things after years of working
with small businesses:

1. They have limited time
2. They have limited funds

Because of this, our process is the single most important aspect of what we do. We have developed a proprietary, step-by-step systematic approach to help small business owners increase profitability in a short amount of time and at a reasonable cost. Our process is based on proven approaches to business planning, including all aspects of planning for financial and accounting systems, management and leadership systems, and marketing systems.

Our approach is linear, but it also allows for plenty of visionary and big picture thinking, which is critical for small business growth.

The Swell Strategies Small Business Process includes:

Step 1: Research
Swell Strategies will provide you with a number of simple worksheets that you will fill out to help us get our research underway. Once you have completed them, we will spend several hours reviewing them with you to discuss major questions and issues. Next, we will return to our offices and dive deeply into available market research to ensure we fully understand the problems you face and how we might solve them.

Step 2: Review
Once we have a good idea of what is going on, we will hold another meeting with you to discuss our findings. During this session we will explore big ideas that could significantly shake your company’s foundation. To make sure the strategies we prescribe are feasible and within reason, we will also work with you to plot out how they might be implemented and what resources you already have on hand to do the necessary work.

Step 3: Plan
At this point, we return to our offices, reams of research and notes in hand, and put together a formal written plan for you. This plan will include models, worksheets, data and measures of success that you can implement immediately, with short- and long-term goals and milestones clearly defined.

Step 4: Present & Coach
Plan in hand, we meet with you to review our recommendations and discuss how you can implement them. Although it’s not required, many of our clients find it helpful to retain us as coaches to ensure that plan implementation is successful.
